Celebration

We had a lot to celebrate in this country last weekend. Some of you might have heard the results from this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow??? Our lovely Alexander Rybak with his fiddle adored the audience and all the voters in front of the TV-screens around Europe. After watching that event and especially the voting, I was exhausted from screaming out my joy and Michael’s ear drum was broken ;(

Getting up the next day to celebrate Norway’s national day was not complicated, after all the sun was shining and we had managed to install our freshly painted flagpole just in time. It did leave some white paint marks on our hands and clothing, but nevertheless the flagpole got back on its rack in time to raise the flag on May 17th.

I was also looking forwarding to wearing my national costume. It has been 7 years since the last time I wore it. At Easter, I had my costume fixed to fit my latest dimensions (I won’t give you the details, but my body mass has changed since I was 14 years old and the costume was sewed…). I got annoyed as I discovered that 2 buttons to tighten the shirt cuffs were missing, though. Furiously I ran around the house searching for them and finally phoned my Mom, who had taken care of my costume and all the jewelry that belongs to it. That resulted in a stressed mother who couldn’t help me at all, since she lives 500 kilometers away…. and I was still quite upset. I had to use the buttons from Michael’s bridegroom shirt. Finally dressed up, we headed downtown and as the photos tell, we weren’t the only ones:

The rest of the day we spent in lovely company with Michael’s colleague. He served us champagne, great food and wine – we enjoyed in the sunshine at his balcony. I was even close to get a sunburn.
